17-year-old schoolgirl Lena is on the threshold of adulthood. But making it through is no picnic. Utterly devastated by her traumatic experiences, she withdraws into herself, refusing to discuss them, not even with those closest to her. This powerful, intimate portrait of a painfully scarred young woman is told from her perspective, including the teenager’s dreams, her whimsical side and family quarrels. With a meticulous visual perceptiveness, Slovak filmmaker Tereza Nvotová’s thesis film effectively and convincingly gets right to the painful core of rape – the victim’s shame and doubt, which are very often connected to the crime itself.
