A bust of one of the most influential figures of Czechoslovak cinema, filmmaker Věra Chytilová, will be ceremonially unveiled at Café Na Peróne, located within Divadlo Na Peróne. Created in 2017 by Košice-based sculptor Michal Machciník, the work was previously exhibited as part of exhibitions dedicated to sculptural portraits of prominent personalities at the National Technical Museum in Prague and the Municipal Museum in Hořice. The life-size bust pays tribute to a remarkable filmmaker whose work continues to inspire generations of audiences and artists alike.

The event will be attended by the author of the sculpture, Michal Machciník, who will share insights into the creation of the bust and his personal connection to Věra Chytilová’s legacy. The programme will also include a short opening speech by the director of Divadlo Na Peróne, Peter Kočiš ml.

Michal Machciník is one of the notable representatives of contemporary Slovak art. His work moves between sculpture, object art, conceptual practice and new media. Exploring the relationships between people, space and landscape, he combines traditional sculptural techniques with experimental approaches and reflections on contemporary social issues. His works have been presented at numerous solo and group exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad.
