Ceremonial awarding of the festival's honorary prize with the participation of the general public on the stage at the Lower Gate.
“Czech actress Daniela Kolářová is one of the stable stars of Czechoslovak cinematography. There is no doubt about her creative contribution in the field of film art. She has appeared permanently and incessantly on silver screen and television screen since 1965. She has created a number of unforgettable character roles, thanks to which she gained admiration and attention from many viewers across the former Czechoslovakia. It is an honour for Art Film to welcome such a significant actor to the festival and to award her the honorary Actor’s Mission award for her exceptional contribution to film,” says the festival’s art director Martin Palúch.
“In her best films she appeared alongside Jaromír Hanzlík in A Night at Karlstein (1973), with Zdeněk Svěrák in Seclusion Near A Forest (1976) and Empties (2007), with Oldřich Kaiser in Meeting in July (1978) and with Josef Abrahám in Ball Lightning (1978). Her performances in popular series of that period such as The Saleswoman (1977) or in the cult series Hospital at the End of the City (1977–1981) are unforgettable as well. Together with the previous laureates of the Actor’s Mission award – Iva Janžurová, Jiřina Bohdalová and Jana Brejchová – Daniela Kolářová belongs to the most popular generation of Czech actresses to this day,” added Martin Palúch.
In addition to film and television acting, she worked for many years at Vinohrady Theatre, where she portrayed many distinctive theatre characters. For her performance in Thomas Bernhard’s Am Ziel at Prague Comedy Theatre, she won the Alfréd Radok Award for her portrayal of a mother at the end of March 2005. She also performed at Na zábradlí Theatre, Švandovo Theatre and many others.
