Young Denis is fond of everything that can be sold or got for free. Charlotte is a police academy student with no shortage of enthusiasm, but some major professional shortcomings. A serious lack of financial liquidity drives Denis into the mansion of an old man recovering from a stroke. He sees everything, but he can’t speak or move a muscle. When Denis meets Charlotte, the man’s granddaughter, at the door, he unwittingly plays the first move in a dramatic chess game that will leave him an entirely different person in the end.
