Suzanne is an original drama film that explores the lives of drug addicts. Despite its controversial nature, it has gained significant popularity among audiences. The film, centered on a "lost and damned father" who, driven by remorse, rescues his daughter from the clutches of "sweet death," is based on an original screenplay by the director, Dušan Rapoš. He was indirectly inspired by the well-known song of the same name by the Canadian composer, poet and singer Leonard Cohen. At the time of its first release in 1996, almost half a million viewers saw the film in Czechoslovak cinemas within three months, a truly unique phenomenon given its serious and highly non-commercial subject matter. It was the first Slovak or Czech film with Dolby Surround 5.1 sound.
