Ancient legend has it that deep beneath our world’s oceans lies another world. A world of beings that control the tides, the changing seasons, the weather and the elements. When they reach the age of 16, they can take the form of a dolphin and cross over into our world to explore it. One such journey marks the beginning of a love story between the young girl Chun and the young boy Tian, who saves Chun’s life, sacrificing his own in the process. Now it’s up to Chun to restore the boy to life. Combining traditional and computer (2D and 3D) animation with painton- glass, this beautiful, delicate animated film caused a sensation upon its screening in competition at Annecy 2017, earning a reputation as China’s Spirited Away (d. Hayao Miyazaki).
