Milena is a middle-aged wife and mother living in an affluent Belgrade neighbourhood. She uncomplainingly attends to her household chores and sings in a local choir with her girlfriends. She makes love to her husband and maintains an active social life. One day, while housekeeping, she discovers an old videocassette that implicates her husband in terrible war crimes. How will this secret, which never should have been discovered, affect her life from now on? Writer, director and star Mirjana Karanović delivers a highly convincing performance, suggestively combining restrained discretion and refined manners. Minute details of her face impart an internal conflict otherwise imperceptible in her countenance, and every scene is imbued with a quiet intensity. The intense drama of subtle glances and gestures attests to the fact that the tragedy of the Yugoslav Wars lives on, even in life’s most intimate domains.
