The Animal Kingdom drops viewers into an extraordinary world where mutations in human genetics cause people to transform into hybridcreatures. François does everything he can to save his wife, who is affected by this mysterious condition. As some of the creatures disappear into a nearby forest, François embarks with Emile, their 16-year-old son, on a quest to find his missing wife Lena. As he clings to the family’s past, he progressively loses his grip on Emile, who has started to notice transformations in his own body.

The film premiered in 2023 at the opening night of Cannes film festival in Un Certain Regard. The following year it was awarded with 5 César Awards: Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Costume Design.
