Ukraine, 2022. Newlyweds Taras and Oľa move into their new apartment. They invite friends over, celebrate, and enjoy a rare moment of peace. But in the early hours of the morning, everything changes. Explosions echo in the distance. The war has begun. They turn on the news, call their families. Oľa gets a call from a friend in Austria, urging her to leave while she still can. There’s a grant and a safe place waiting for her – but she refuses. Taras returns with grim updates: kilometre-long lines outside stores, empty ATMs, fuel shortages. They count their cash and consider their options. They look for a shelter but eventually return to their apartment. Tanks appear under their windows. From neighbouring flats, they hear Russian soldiers. They watch helplessly as residents of their building are rounded up in the courtyard. The power is out. There's no water. No news. For days, they hide trying to stay alive while planning their escape from the trap their home has become.
The screening will be attended by the film's director, Zhanna Ozirna.
