A documentary about the obstacles faced by young people in a rock band. “My debut at Bratislava’s Short Film Studio was shot during my first military leave. With its 1960s New Wave atmosphere, it was a revelation in the context of the official film production of the day. The film was my attempt to shatter contemporary stereotypes, since at that time, all that was being made were propagandistic portraits of young ’innovators’ and ’shock workers’. Films had to project positivity and loyalty to the system. The subjects had to carry the ’flag of progress’. That was why people like the ones I picked weren’t seen then. I pacified the criticism with my opening statement, where I say that the film’s subjects ‘are not intended as role models.’ It was my small attempt to return truth and authentic settings and people to the documentary.” Fero Fenič
