In Los Angeles, the renowned shaman Hwa-rim and her protégé Bong-gil are commissioned – along with a hefty sum – to visit the enigmatic descendants of a household plagued by a peculiar illness. Sensing a dark aura surrounding the family's ancestral grave, Hwa-rim urges that it be relocated. They enlist the help of Sang-duk, the best geomancer in the business, and Young-geun, a mortician – both lured by the scent of money. The mysterious grave, located in a sacred and nearly inaccessible area, hides disturbing secrets. Hwa-rim’s insistence ultimately sets the exhumation in motion, launching the team into a chilling journey where they must confront not only supernatural forces, but also their own inner demons.
Describing Exhuma as a "Korean and folkloric film with a direct approach," JANG Jae-hyun hinted at opening up a new occult universe where Exhuma is poised to showcase the epitome of the Korean occult genre.
