Upon its publication in 1978, her book A Practical Guide to Marital Bliss incited major controversy in Poland’s communist, Catholic society. In a story spanning three decades, Wisłocka wages a fierce battle with social conventions and dogmas while living her own turbulent personal life. The Art of Loving was an enormous commercial success in Poland, seen by 1.7 million viewers in the first few days of its release.
