Saxophonist Fred Madison finds a videotape on the steps of his luxurious villa. Someone has recorded a murder committed inside his own bedroom. The bloodied victim looks like Fred’s wife Renee – and the killer looks exactly like Fred himself. The police arrest him immediately, but several days later they discover that an unknown young man is being held in Fred’s prison cell instead.
"My selection simply could not exist without David Lynch. Back in the late 1990s, at the tiny cinema that shaped me and my friends – the beloved Doctor Zhivago Film Club on Dominikánske Square – a new Lynch premiere was always the event we waited for most excitedly. Afterwards came the inevitable long debate outside in the square, where one thing was always clear: if someone claimed they fully understood Lost Highway, they were almost certainly lying."
