Delia is content with what she has, embracing her fate as it unfolds, and her sole wish is for her daughter to have a happy marriage. But the arrival of a mysterious letter gives her the courage to abandon her predetermined plans and imagine a better future not only for her daughter Marcella but also for herself and other women. She therefore decides to defy her abusive husband and the rules of patriarchal society in post-war Italy.

A powerful yet entertaining film about female strength and solidarity, which won six Donatello David Awards in Italy, including the award for Best Newcomer, breaking all attendance records! The film also won awards at the Rome and Gothenburg festivals.
