In the near future, a global catastrophe has left all of civilization in ruins. Small, isolated communities are all that is left of humankind. Day in, day out, they rummage through the deserted remnants of human settlements, searching for bits of food or anything useful, while doing their best to either avoid the bloodthirsty creatures of the night, or kill them. It is in this harsh world that young Juliette, after crashing her car, must spend a night alone in the desert. With no help in sight, the hungry mutants lie in wait as dusk swiftly approaches. Thus begins a battle for survival where the key to deliverance may be Juliette’s memories of her happy former life. Hostile is a breath of fresh air sending ripples through the frequented and often stagnant waters of the mutantinfested post-apocalyptic tale. Crosscutting between the hostile reality and the past effectively forges an emotional bond between the audience and the protagonist and creates a dramatic arc building to a surprising and powerful conclusion.
