Four years after the unsolved murder of architect Mariusz Roszewski, the police receive an anonymous phone call claiming that the key to tracking down the killer is hidden in the novel Amok by Krystian Bala (Mateusz Kościukiewicz). The case is taken on by investigator Jacek Sokolski (Łukasz Simlat, Best Supporting Actor at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia), who asks the book’s author to assist him in the investigation. The writer also happens to be Sokolski’s number- one suspect. Thus begins a game of cat-and-mouse in a world where literary constructions intertwine with criminal hypotheses. The truth becomes ever more blurred, thanks to the cunning calculations of a mentally disturbed master of deception. His web of lies ends up ensnaring even those whose job is to seek the truth. The real-life Bala has been serving a sentence since 2007 for the murder of Dariusz Janiszewski. It was thanks to his novel Amok (2003) that the police managed to convict him.
