The film returns to the post-World War I period with Hungarian and French historians. It gives a detailed interpretation of the course and consequences of the Treaty of Trianon (1920) which established the Hungarian state’s borders after the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In Paris, a delegation led by the politician and diplomat Count Albert Apponyi sought to avert 'the greatest catastrophic loss Hungary has suffered in its thousand-year history'. The description of historical circumstances also includes the founding of Czechoslovakia and politicians’ activities as led by Edvard Beneš. This version differs in many ways from the established domestic historiography, and thus provides an interesting polemical perspective on events that still influence Slovak-Hungarian relations.
