The story takes place in rural Ireland in 1981. Cáit, a nine-year-old neglected girl from an over-crowded and dysfunctional family, is sent away to live with distant relatives for the summer, so that her exhausted mother can prepare for the birth of another child. Cáit will thus spend a few weeks in the care of an elderly farmer couple who seem to lack nothing. She blossoms in their care, but in this house where there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers one painful truth.
The film won the Grand Prix in the Generation Kplus competition at the Berlinale 2022, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film and Kate McCullough won the European Film Award for Cinematography.
