Giovanni, a renowned Italian filmmaker, is about to start shooting a political film. But between his marriage in crisis, his co-producer on the verge of bankruptcy and the rapidly changing film industry, everything seems to be working against him! Always on the edge, Giovanni will have to rethink his way of doing things if he wants to lead his little world towards a bright tomorrow.
A Brighter Tomorrow (Il Sol dell’Avvenire), from the name of the film Giovanni is shooting, the action of which takes place in 1956, when the Soviets invade Hungary, is a verse taken from Fischia il vento (The Wind Whistles), an Italian partisan song, which is, along with Bella Ciao, one of the most famous songs of the Resistance. “A lovely metaphor for this film about the desire to move forward, even in the face of strong headwinds,“ wrote Charlotte Pavard.
Film had the world premiere at the Cannes IFF 2023.
