Annie Hall is one of Allen’s best works. With the film’s protagonist of the successful New York TV comedian Alvy Singer, a typical character for his movies entered the silver screen: the urban neurotic. Allen finally found himself in the character of a strange intellectual full of complexes in the middle of the Manhattan jungle.
Alvy’s girlfriend, Annie Hall, has just dumped him. He now remembers his great love in flashbacks and tries to find the reasons for her shipwreck. Hollywood stars Jeff Goldblum, Bev- erly D'Angelo, and Sigourney Weaver flash in cameo roles.
The film won four Academy Awards (Best Directing, Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, and Best Actress), and Woody Allen addition- ally received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, a Golden Globe nomination for Best Director, and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and for Best Screenplay.
